#28-4 | Final Reminder: FIAA Student Conference & Research Grants worth up to $500!

Apply for Student Conference & Research Grants worth up to $500! Offered by Faculty of Information Alumni Association (FIAA), and open to all MMSt and MI students who:

  1. have been invited to speak or present at a conference or panel, or
  2. are currently conducting a research project that is supervised by a faculty member.

Submit applications to: Le Dieu Tran, Chair, FIAA Grants & Awards Committee at: ledieutranatalumni [dot] utoronto [dot] ca.

Deadline for Winter 2017 grant applications: Friday, March 31, 2017.
NOTE: If you are applying for a grant in the Winter 2017 session, your conference/research activity must occur between January 1, 2017 and August 31, 2017.

Reminder: Register With the Safety Abroad Office
All students planning on participating in international U of T activity (gaining credit/research, funding or sanctioning) must fully register with the Safety Abroad Office prior to departure. Please begin the registration process at least 30 days before travel. Please see “Steps for Going Abroad” under Student Responsibilities for complete information.

Note: Failure to comply with these procedures may result in withdrawal of funding, emergency support and/or academic credit.

#28-5 | Volunteers needed for the iSchool Meet & Greet event – Saturday April 1st!

The Meet & Greet event is a conversion event, for students who have been offered admission but may not have accepted their offer yet. It is an event to showcase what the iSchool has to offer; excite and entice them so that they will accept their offers of admission.

We need your help with the following:

A Student Experiences Panel discussion

Careers & Experiential Learning Opportunities - a short (5 minute) presentation on your experience with either a co-op / practicum / exhibition project / internship / CRO

Mix & Mingle – chat with potential iSchool students about you student experiences and answer any questions they might have

The agenda for the day is as follows:

9:00 AM Registration opens
10:00 AM – 10:30 AM

  • Welcome from the Dean
  • Next steps, registration, advising, financing
  • Careers & Experiential Learning Opportunities

10:30 AM – 11:30 AM Student Experiences Panel
