iSchool Professors Win SSHRC Partnership Development Grant

iSchool Assistant Professor, Cara Krmpotich, has received a SSHRC Partnership Development Grant valued at $96 500 to undertake research with the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, iSchool professor Lynne Howarth, and Michigan State University assistant professor Heather Howard, who also holds an appointment with U of T’s Centre for Aboriginal Initiatives. ideaBOOST Business Accelerator Program Chooses iSchool Grads

Of the six companies selected by the ideaBOOST Business Accelerator program, run by the Canadian Film Centre's startup business bootcamp, two of them were start-ups by Faculty of Information graduates.

Margaret Lam (MI 2011) and Matt McPherson (MI 2010) will use the $15,000 in seed capital to bring their companies to the next stage of development. Read more »

Graduates Speak at 2013 CLA National Conference

Despite being relatively new to the library profession, two recent graduates of the iSchool’s Master of Information program delivered well received presentations as experts in their field at the recent 2013 Canadian Library Association National Conference.

Elizabeth Coates (MI 2012) and Agatha Barc (MI 2013) delivered strong speeches during the conference, which was held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre from May 29 to June 1. Read more »

Students choose a Masters degree to upgrade or acquire skills to enhance their career, yet often worry about their ability to find that ideal job after graduation.
